Concepts and Processes

Week 5 - Weekly review
To start off the week I had a day of looking at various Adobe software. These included Adobe illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. It was interesting to see how the three pieces of software are very similar in many ways but useful to know the basics of each program so I will be able to use them in future projects.

This is the product I created during the first day of using the adobe software. I think for a first go it turned out okay and had a good balance of text, picture and heading.
For the second day of my week we visited the Tate modern to look at various exhibitions. The aim of the visit was to chose one of the exhibitions that we enjoyed the most and to write a report of the room which will form part of our assessment. I chose to do the Russian revolution posters as I felt that they were very powerful and interesting to talk about for a report.
Lastly my week ended with a session with Angie. Throughout the day we did many things such as talking though what information should be on our blogs and the best ways to write an essay for the second part of our assessment. I was good to finally sit down and talk to a member of staff about what we had to do especially for our blogs as it wasn't really made clear at the beginning that for the first six weeks during the exploratory stage that we were only required to do a weekly review on the six topics and not daily reviews. I wish we had had this opportunity at the beginning of the course.
During the day we also did the Peter Honey test which showed what type of learner we are. Although many colleges and also companies find these test valuable, I however only find them partly useful and although the test was fairly accurate I like to work in many different ways depending on what we are doing, I do not like working alone all the time, but equally I do not like working as part of a group all the time either. I like a balance!
Overall, this week has been partly useful but would have been more beneficial back in September.
